Frequently Asked Questions

100 Miles in May Challenge — Walton Priory Middle School

Is sign-up for the challenge still open?
No — sign-up is now closed. The participant list has been finalised with the school and we're no longer accepting new entries for this year's challenge. If your child is already on the school's participant list, you can still create a mile-logging account here. If they're not on the list, please look out for next year's challenge.
What is the 100 Miles in May challenge?
Children at Walton Priory Middle School aim to walk, run, cycle or otherwise move 100 miles during May, raising money for UHNM children’s departments, the school forest, and bathroom renovation.
Who can take part?
The challenge is open to pupils aged 8–14 at Walton Priory Middle School whose parents have already signed them up through school. Any other child visiting this site cannot join the challenge here — this website is only for logging miles, not for entering the challenge.
Why do I need an account on this site, then?
The account is purely so you can log the miles your child has completed and see their progress. It's not a sign-up for the challenge itself. When you register, an admin checks that your child is on the school's participant list before approving your account — if your child isn't on the list, the account won't be approved.
How do I create the mile-logging account?
Once your child has been signed up for the challenge through school, go to the sign-in page and either continue with Microsoft/Google or choose Register to create an email/password account. Tick the parental-consent box. An admin will approve you shortly afterwards and then you can start logging miles.
Can my child use a Microsoft or Google account?
Yes. From the login page choose Sign in with Microsoft or Sign in with Google. We only receive the name and email address from the provider. (The same rules apply — your child must already be signed up for the challenge through school.)
How do we log miles?
Sign in, go to My Miles, enter the distance, pick the activity, choose a date and hit Log Miles. You can log up to 50 miles in a single entry and anything longer than that you should split up.
What activities count?
Walking, running, cycling, swimming, scootering, skating — any self-powered movement counts. We trust parents and kids to log honestly.
Will my child’s name be shown publicly?
By default, no. Children appear on the public leaderboard with a fun nickname (e.g. “Turbo Tiger”). Parents can change this on the Profile page to show the real name, or to stay fully anonymous. Year group and email are never shown publicly.
What data do you store?
Child's first name, year group, parent/guardian email, and logged activities. Full details in our privacy policy.
How do I download or delete my child’s data?
Sign in, go to Profile, and use the Download my data or Delete my account buttons. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
What if we forget the password?
Use the Report an Issue page to request a password reset. An admin will issue a one-time new password and get it to you. Alternatively, sign in with Microsoft or Google if you used those providers.
Is my donation money handled on this site?
No. Donations are made via JustGiving and go directly to the fundraising page. This site only shows the running total. See the homepage for the donation link.
When will my data be deleted after the campaign?
All personal data (names, ages, year groups, emails, mile logs) will be deleted by 31 July 2026. We keep only overall totals and the final leaderboard snapshot as an anonymised record of the campaign.
Is this site run by the school?
No. This website is run independently by volunteers to support the challenge. Please don't contact the school office about site issues — use Report an Issue instead.
Who do I contact if something goes wrong?
Use the Report an Issue page on this site — it goes directly to the volunteer admins who run the website.
